![]() | Josh RubyMy name is Joshua Ruby and my home town is MacGregor Manitoba. I'm in my first year at Canadian Mennonite University. I'll be helping out with SPOKE 2005 for the first leg, from Vancouver to Winnipeg, by driving a support vehicle and trying to do my part as the bike mechanic (if all goes well I won't need to do much mechanic work). |
I was really surprised when I was asked to be part of SPOKE, I'd previously heard of Arvid Loewen's ultra long cycling journeys, but now being asked to be part of one was pretty special. I've done a fair bit of cycling on my own, so I can relate to Arvid when he says that this trip will be tough at times yet he will still persevere, it is definitely something out of the ordinary. To sum it all up I would say that I'm anticipating the trip a whole lot. I'm sure it will be a learning experience for every one, but there is no doubt that God will be with everyone taking part in the trip right from day one. SPOKE 2005 is being done for an awesome cause, it's really neat that a few kids from the orphanage in Kenya will actually be able to take part in the trip it self. They'll see first hand the effort that will hopefully have an impact on their lives and those of many other children. |
