![]() | George was born physically disabled in a poverty stricken family of five. He was rejected by his own parents due to his disability. His father detested George with a passion, so he divorced his mother. George was forced to live with the stepfather who also abused him. His mother lived in a temporary structure in Kipkaren slum and faced an uphill task trying to meet their basic needs. In most instances she neglected George. He slept on the bare floor with nothing to cover him at night. He lacked clothing and went days without a meal. He was only able to crawl around because his legs were disabled. He lived a life of misery, with no hope for a future. He depended heavily on handouts from passer-bys and scavenging from the garbage. It was during the usual visit to the street by George to beg for money that he was spotted by a Mully Children's Family (MCF) staff member. He was rescued and admitted to MCF Home Eldoret. He received personalized love and attention from the staff. He was taken to the hospital for orthopaedic care and the purchase of crutches to enable him to move around with ease. Prior to his rescue, George never thought of attending school. In 1992 he was enrolled in MCF special informal school. In January 1993 he was enrolled in grade two at MCF. He sat for his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education in MCF in the year 2000. He was then enrolled in MCF secondary school the following year in 2001. Having the desired determination to pursue his education given the chance, he sat for his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education in the year 2004. He is a highly ambitious young man and hopes to pursue a course in accounting to enable him to achieve his lifelong dreams in financial management. He is a talented guitarist and loves coaching the MCF football team. |
