![]() | Victoria and her eight siblings lived with unemployed parents who used to steal from other people's gardens to feed their children. The mother was considered mentally ill, and assaulted the father with a panga (knife). The father was hospitalized for over a year due to the head injury caused by the attack. The children were left with their insane mother. Victoria says "I was a small girl and my mother used to cane us and lock me outside all night. I remember the night my mother attacked my father. I woke up to hear my father screaming and my mother swore to bury him in the forest after killing him!" Her parents were divorced soon after this incident. The family disintegrated and the elder sisters moved to Nairobi to find work. The government helped to distribute the remaining children to different homes. Victory was admitted to Mully Children's Family (MCF) for protection. She had dropped out of school at the time of her rescue, but is currently in grade seven at MCF Ndalani. She hopes to become a nurse someday through further education. She is a member of the choir and participates in Bible Study. She has grown spiritually and has hope for the future. |
