Summary:Six year-old Charles Mulli lives under the constant threat of danger from his abusive, alcoholic father. He wakes up one morning to discover his family has left him - abandoned him to force out an existence by going hut to hut begging for food in an impoverished area of Kenya. Through divine intervention, Charles works his way out of poverty, and, in a unique rags-to-riches story, becomes a successful businessman and lives among Kenya's elite. Yet the passion for street children remains so strong within him that he decides to give up everything he has to help change the lives of those he understands so well. Charles, his wife Esther and his eight children leave their place of luxury and respond to the growing epidemic of orphaned and abused children. While businesses, friends and even religious groups turn their backs on Charles, he exhausts all his resources and struggles to rescue street children who suffer from drugs, prostitution, HIV/AIDS and hunger. Together they start Mully Children's Family and with compassion and the power of miracles they begin the impossible task of reaching out to a hurting world. |
